die Welt?
"Was kostet die Welt?" is the new YouTube format by FAZ and FUNK focusing on the topic of economics.

was excited when Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ) approached me for this project. Beyond the opportunity to work with FAZ itself, the collaboration with FUNK made the project especially compelling.
Due to a tight timeline and the scope of the task, I decided to bring in my colleague Bettina, whose support proved invaluable. The collaboration turned into one of the most rewarding partnerships I’ve had in recent years. I’m grateful for her contribution and look forward to working together again in the future.

Logo
For logo design and the CI, we used IBM Plex font. We specifically vectorized the font for the logo and gave it a playful design.
type
For the Was kostet die Welt? YouTube channel, we decided to use IBM Plex.
It’s a playful typeface, yet it still conveys
a sense of seriousness. I felt that this balance would visually support the financial content in a clear and credible way, which is why I chose this font.

Colors
For the colors, I initially chose a different palette, but the designers at FUNK requested a scheme inspired by the colors of the Ukrainian flag. I adjusted the palette accordingly and combined it with a suitable texture to create a paper- and cardboard-like feel.
Assets
I also animated the video assets, making sure they remained consistent with the elements used in the logo and static visuals. To give the animations a more analogue feel, I used a cardboard-like texture. My goal was to create a fun and playful atmosphere. Instead of complex animations, I opted for minimalist, slow movements that wouldn’t distract the viewer. Since the visuals already make a strong statement, I wanted to avoid overwhelming the audience with overly aggressive motion.
